Roger Brace
gained
an Honours Degree at the Central School
of Art, London in 1966. He received a
Peter Stuyvesant Fellowship and
exhibited in the New Generation
Exhibitions at the Whitechapel Gallery
in 1966 and 1968.
Since then
he has exhibited at The Museum of Modern
Art, Oxford, Clare College, Cambridge,
Newlyn Gallery, Cornwall and was
selected to represent Britain in ‘Twelve
British Painters’ at B.Altman,New York.
He has paintings in a permanent
collection at Chateau de la Linardie,
France. He has had his paintings
discussed on ‘The Critics’, BBC radio
and ‘Omnibus’ BBC Television. Articles
and reproductions have appeared in the
‘Observer’ the ‘Guardian’, ‘New York
Times’ and ‘Studio International’.
Roger has
spent much of his working life lecturing
at various Colleges and Universities
including Winchester School of Art,
North Staffordshire University, Kent
State University, USA and New York
Studio School.
Due to a
prolonged and serious bout of cancer he
had to retire from teaching and his
continuity in painting was disrupted.
Having lived in France during the major
part of his illness he moved back to
Penwith, Cornwall in 2004 where he is
Director of the Valentine Le Grice
Poetry Foundation and enjoys
uninterrupted painting in his studio
overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
